Leotie's Story

Leotie, which is a Native American name meaning flower of the prairie, came to us after being rescued from dire circumstances in Eastern KY. She and her companion, Lomasi, (who we think is her mother) were running scared and starving for months. They had been abandoned and had no one to care for them. It took rescuers months to catch them because the girls were so terrified of people. Leotie was depressed and listless when she first arrived, and also suffered from Demodectic mange. This form of mange is not contagious, though can be difficult to treat, and is very common in animals suffering from malnutrition. However, after only a few days in our care, she began to show signs of improvement. Though she still has skin issues which require medicated baths, she is now known as our little jumping bean, because she bounces excitedly when she meets new people. This sweet, loving girl is also a sucker for belly rubs, and will stop her "boinging" in an instant to receive one. She started life in sad circumstances, but has alot of love to give and would love to share it with someone special!
