Well, it's 2010, and we decided it was about time to join the 21st century. So, welcome to our first e-newsletter where we plan to share the latest news and events from Home At Last. Better late than never, right?
Summer's here, and that means it's Adoption Day time!
We've already kicked off the season with a great start--Miss Marion, a feline friend who was rescued from a terrible abuse situation a couple years ago found a lovely home in Lexington!
HAL will have cats and dogs available for adoption at the Farmers’ Market on Southland Drive in Lexington from 10am-2pm (weather permitting).
June 13th & 27th
July 11th & 25th
August 8th & 22nd
Come on out—you just might meet your new best friend!
Save the Date!
You won't want to miss this one! We're thrilled to welcome Flamenco Louisville to Lexington for a fabulous night of fiery flamenco dance and music—and all proceeds will be going to help the animals.
Saturday June 19th
Natasha's Bistro, Lexington
Flamenco Louisville performs authentic flamenco dance and music, bringing a little bit of Spain to the Bluegrass. Dancers in colorful costumes will perform lively and dramatic numbers with expressive arms and rhythmic footwork. Flamenco is a system of singing, music and dance indigenous to the southern region of Spain called Andalucia. Flamenco Louisville is an inclusive, participatory community of dancers, musicians, teachers and aficionados who wish to keep the Flamenco experience alive though we live far from Spain. Special guests at this event will include Lexington guitarists Duane Corn and Bob Elliot from Alma Gitana.
Reservations can be made online or by calling 859.259.2754.
We know that despite the slowly recovering economy, times remain tight. Below are some of the easiest ways we can think of for you to help the animals:
• Shop online!
There are a few sites out there that help people use their purchasing power for good. GoodShop.com and Igive.com are two sites that have teamed up with retail merchants to offer percentages of your purchases to causes you care about. At Goodshop, up to 30% of your purchase could help the animals of HAL! (Select Home at Last (Salvisa, KY) as your chosen charity. There are other groups with similar names around the country).
• Make your search count!
Most of us do searches online dozens of times a day without giving much thought to it. But with Goodsearch.com—you can make every search count. Goodsearch works like every other search engine, except that for every search you do, they will donate one penny to the eligible charity of your choice. Simply select Home at Last (Salvisa, KY) and start searching! It’s easy, and doesn’t cost you a thing!
• Buy a Kroger card—and use it!
We appreciate everyone who has purchased a Kroger card from us-- and now we need you to use them! Kroger cards work just like a gift card—they cost just $5 and come with $5 already on them. Every time you add money to your Kroger card, HAL earns 4%. You may already be shopping at Kroger for groceries, gas, etc, now you can shop and help the animals all at the same time! Need a card? Share the Wealth
We've been around almost 14 years, and in that time have made a difference in the lives of hundreds of animals. But we know we don't do it alone—we need and depend on support from compassionate folks like you. We receive no government assistance and are just a small group of people who love animals, trying to make a big difference. We truly to appreciate every penny. To make a difference for animals right now, go here.
